Connecting
to Outside Notes Server
Connect
to the Internet, either at LECOM or at home. If you have AOL, MSN,
or another ISP with a special browser window, you will have to minimize
their browser. Then open up Internet Explorer.
(If you have DSL, Cable Modem, or a router to share Internet Access at
home, you will need to go to Tools and select Internet Options, then
choose the Advanced tab, and check the box, under browsing that allows
Passive FTP. - Dial-up users do not need to do this).
Press
the Ctrl and the o keys at the same time. You will get the box
below.

In
this open dialog box, type in
ftp://logon:password@12.183.100.4,
however you should replace logon with your username and password
your e-mail password. (For example: type in ftp://jdoe:2jfp8932@12.183.100.4)
After
you are logged on, you can download your notes the same way, as you have
in the past. (Right click the file you wish to
download, and choose Copy to Folder, then choose the location you
wish to save to.)
Creating
a Notes Shortcut
Right
click on your desktop and select New then Shortcut from the
menu. In the box type: ftp:// your logon name, a colon and then your
password, followed by @12.183.100.4. (For example:
ftp://jdoe:2jfp8932@12.183.100.4) Click Next.
Give
your shortcut a name such as "Notes Oustide LECOM" or
"LECOM Notes" and click the Finish button.
After
you are connected to the Internet you can double click the shortcut to
access the notes either from home or LECOM
