2nd Annual Mini-Medical School

Now you can attend medical school without applying, paying tuition or taking exams.  During LECOM Bradenton's Mini-Medical school you'll sit in the seat of a medical student and learn from the experts on health.  Plus, you can take advantage of free health screenings each day.

9:00 AM     "Strokes: Early Identification and Management"
                  Ralph Gonzalez, M.D., Bradenton Neurology
                   
  More than 73,000 Americans suffer new or recurrent stroke
                      each year, making stroke a leading cause of adult disability
                      and the third leading cause of death nationwide.  Dr. Gonzalez will
                      cover the warning signs of stroke and the rapid diagnosis and
                      treatment options offered at  Lakewood Ranch Medical Center and
                      Manatee Memorial Hospital.

10:00 AM   "Nerve Entrapment of the Upper Limbs and an Osteopathic
                  Approach to treatment"
                  Frank Liuzzi, Ph.D., Professor of Anatomy, LECOM Bradenton
                  Thomas Fotopoulos, D.O., Professor of Osteopathic
                  Manipulative Medicine
                    
 From an anatomical perspective, you'll learn what is happening to
                      your body when you suffer nerve entrapment.  Also, osteopathic
                      manipulative demonstrations will show you some alternative
                      treatments to this painful condition.

11:00 AM    "Where to Find Reliable Medical Information"
                  Jeffrey Orenstein, Ph.D., Living Health with Living Out East
                  Magazine
                     
In this first of three mini-sessions, Dr. Orenstein will guide you
                      through the world of medical advice and direct you to the most
                      reliable, trustworthy information.

When you arrive on campus, please follow the signs to the parking lot on the west side of the building.  The entrance to Mini-Medical School is on the west side (back) of the building.  Registration will be just inside the door.
