LECOM Bradenton Military Club Sponsors Formal
Commissioning Ceremony
The Military Club for the Lake Erie College of
Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) Bradenton held its first Military
Scholarship Day on Friday, August 12. Eleven second-year medical
students were formally commissioned into three branches of the Armed
Forces before an audience of 100 family, friends and officers of the
Air Force, Army and Navy.
Special guests for the presentation and
reception that followed were Joseph Giaimo, D.O., President of the
Florida Osteopathic Medical Association and former Naval officer,
and Captain Michael Murphy, D.O., Associate Dean for Post-Graduate
Education and Professor of Family Medicine at Pikeville College
School of Osteopathic Medicine. Dr. Murphy is a retired captain in
the Navy and presided over the commissioning ceremony.
