Preventive Medicine Club Assists with Special
Olympics

The Preventive Medicine Club turned out ten
LECOM Bradenton medical students to assist with the annual Special
Olympics Florida (SOFL) Summer Games on April 29 and 30. Over 2100
athletes competed at this event which is the largest event for SOFL.
LECOM Bradenton students officiated in a range of sports including
volleyball, soccer, and gymnastics and assisted with opening and
closing ceremonies.
Was there a single highlight of the event? If
so, according to Bradley Goldstein, OMS1 and president of the
Preventive Medicine Club, it was a bright spot that lasted
throughout the entire weekend. “The highlight of the weekend was
watching the kids have fun--simply in being there, and not in
winning.”
