LECOM Bradenton
Students Rise to the Top at SOSA Spring Conference
The 2005 spring
national conference for the Student Osteopathic Surgery Association
(SOSA) took notice of LECOM Bradenton, one of the newest medical
colleges in the country. A group of nine LECOM Bradenton students
traveled to Blacksburg, Virginia for the conference and, returned
home with one national officer and one scholarship winner. LECOM
Bradenton sent one of the largest college delegations to the
conference.
Jason Starr, 1st
year medical student, received one of two National Educational
Scholarship. SOSA presented the $500 scholarships recognizing
osteopathic medical students who demonstrate outstanding community
involvement and commitment to becoming an osteopathic surgeon.
Delegates elected
Kevin Horn, 1st year medical student, as Secretary for
the National SOSA. Kevin was one of 7 board members elected at this
conference. Horn is president of the LECOM Bradenton chapter of
SOSA.
LECOM Bradenton
students Kevin Paisley, Graydon Stallard, Erica Schneider, Aidith
Flores, Chad Ruechel, Swarup Misra, and Nate Mickelson also attended
the conference..
SOSA is the
national organization where osteopathic medical students can
participate in the activities and governance of the American College
of Osteopathic Surgeons. Its main purpose is to represent and
educate future osteopathic surgeons through local chapters of SOSA.
