Florinef (Fludrocortisone) is used for treating adrenocortical insufficiency in Addison disease and for treating salt-losing adrenogenital syndrome.

How to use

Use Florinef (Fludrocortisone) as directed by your doctor.

* Take Florinef (Fludrocortisone) by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
* Do not suddenly stop taking Florinef (Fludrocortisone). You may have an increased risk of side effects. If you need to stop Florinef (Fludrocortisone) or add a new medicine, your doctor will gradually lower your dose.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Florinef (Fludrocortisone) is a corticosteroid. It works by causing the kidneys to retain sodium and acting as a replacement for cortisone when the body does not produce enough.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Florinef (Fludrocortisone) and are taking it regularly, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Storage

Store Florinef (Fludrocortisone) at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep in a tight, light-resistant container. Keep Florinef (Fludrocortisone) out of the reach of children.
