Poison Prevention Program 2005
In March, Poison Prevention Week turned into
Poison Prevention Month. Both LECOM Medical and Pharmacy students
participated in community programs in Findley Lake, NY and Erie.
Programs were held at the Erie Heights YMCA Center, the Millcreek
Community Hospital (MCH) and still to come the Millcreek Mall event
April 9th. The youngsters at the Achievement Center were the first
to hear the program. Preschoolers were eager to learn and both the
children and the LECOM students gained new found friendships and
knowledge that day. The LECOM students continued with the poison
program with the Erie Heights children where they were featured on
the WSEE Ch. 35 Caring for Kids segment throughout the month of
March. Finally, the 10th Annual Poison Prevention
Program was held at MCH for the community. LECOM clubs SOMA, SNPhA
and PSHP all joined forces that day to explain to the children the
dangers of poisons and how some candies and medicines look
alike.
