LECOM Commemorates World AIDS Day
The Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine commemorated World
AIDS Day with a student designed AIDS quilt and a living Red
Ribbon. LECOM students made their own AIDS memorial quilt with the
guidance of microbiology professor and associate dean Christine Kell,
Ph.D. and Administrative Assistant to the President Helen McKenzie.
The student crafted panels offer hope for treating AIDS and help for
those with the disease.
More than 150 students wore red
World AIDS day tee shirts to create a living red ribbon reflecting
their support for the effort to eradicate AIDS. The students also
distributed small red ribbons in exchange for donations to the food
bank. Dr. Richard Ortoski coordinated the LECOM events
with the Erie Health Department.
